COLGATE UNIVERSITY
AMENDMENT TO CHARTER, 1994
This Instrument Witnesseth
That the Board of Regents for and on behalf of the Education Department
of the State of New York at their meeting of March 18, 1994,
An application having been
made by and on behalf of the trustees of Colgate University, for
an amendment of its charter, it was
Voted that the absolute
charter to the first instance of Colgate University, located in
Hamilton, county of Madison, state of New York, which corporation
was originally incorporated by Special Act of the Legislature on
March 26, 1846 under the corporate name “The Madison University,” pursuant
to the provisions of Chapter 40 of the laws of 1846, which absolute
charter was amended by action of the Board of Regents on March
13, 1890 to change the corporate name to “Colgate University” and
on January 22, 1986 be, and the same hereby is, amended to change
the maximum authorized number of trustees from thirty-one to thirty
five.
Granted, March 18, 1994, by
the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York,
for and on behalf of the State Education Department, and executed
under the seal of said University and recorded as Number 21,616.
