William
D. Baker ‘54
William D. Baker
is the founding president of the law firm of Ellis & Baker, P.C.,
a Professional Corporation in Phoenix, Arizona. In the past 40
years, he has represented special purpose districts and public service
corporations throughout Arizona in matters before federal and state administrative
and regulatory agencies and in the courts, including territorial disputes,
rate cases, and financing and Central Arizona Project water matters. He
represented agricultural financing corporations for over 30 years as
well as industrial development corporations and the issuance of their
bonds to finance various projects.
He specializes in
the practice of water-related law and issues and special district law
and issues, including election law and municipal finance.
Mr.
Baker received his A.B. from Colgate University, Hamilton, New York in
1954 and, after serving in the Strategic Air Command of the United States
Air Force as a pilot, he received his J.D. from the Boalt School of Law
at the University of California, Berkeley in 1960.
He is licensed to
practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and in the State of Arizona and
is an inactive member of the State Bar of California. He has
authored several articles such as: "The Central Arizona Project: Is
It Sinking or Swimming?” published by the Arizona State Bar, and "Chapter
9 Bankruptcy: A Haven for Central Arizona Project Irrigation Districts?" published
in the Arizona State Law Journal. He has also written
a series of articles on Arizona water law for the Arizona Journal
of Real Estate & Business.
Mr. Baker has received
the President's Award from the National Water Resources Association for
his work helping that association with federal reclamation laws and was
granted a life membership for his contributions to that organization. He
has been and is involved in many state and local community and civic
organizations.
He served as a public
member of the Arizona State Board of Accountancy having been appointed
by Governor Symington in 1995 and was reappointed in 1999 for a five-year
term by Governor Hull. He served two years as president of the
State Board after having served as its secretary and treasurer.
He resides in Phoenix,
Arizona. Mr. Baker is listed in Who's Who in America and Who's
Who in Law. Bill and his wife Kay have four children and nine grandchildren.

Maggie
O’Connor Behrens ‘87
Prior to starting her family, Maggie Behrens worked as manager of corporate
communications for David Evans and Associations, Inc., a civil engineering
firm focused on sustainable design for transportation, energy, and water
and land development.
A veteran fundraiser and communications specialist, Ms. Behrens serves
the Portland, Oregon community as auction chairman for several educational
and non-profit organizations including the Capitol Hill School and the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She served as president of a cooperative
school, the Oswego Playschool, responsible for faculty hiring, contract
negotiation, fundraising and budget management.
Ms. Behrens is the Class of 1987 column editor of the Colgate Scene alumni
newspaper. She is married to Mitch Behrens, president of Continental
Industries, applicators of thermoplastic and fluoropolymer coatings for
the high-tech, electronic, automotive and food processing industries.
They are the parents of two daughters.

Quint Black is a 1987 graduate of Colgate University. He
graduated from Bryn Mawr in 1991 for pre-med studies, and he earned his
medical degree in pulmonary and critical care at MCP Hahmemann University,
Philadelphia, PA.

Todd
A. Buchner ‘88
Todd A. Buchner, a Managing Director of Credit Suisse since 2001 based
in Chicago, heads Midwest Institutional Equities within the Investment
Banking division. Since 2001, Mr. Buchner has been the managing partner
for this group responsible for research sales, sales trading, and compliance.
In addition, he has been a member of the Cross Selling Committee since
2003, Co-Chaired the Diversity Advisory Committee from 2002 - 2003, and
currently, sits on the CS Foundation Board in Chicago and serves on the
Managing Directors Evaluation Committee for Credit Suisse.
Mr. Buchner joined Credit Suisse First Boston in 2000 as a Director and
Co-Managed research sales for the Technology Group in the San Francisco
office. Prior to CSFB, Mr. Buchner was a Vice President at Morgan Stanley
from 1997 to 2000 and worked at Cowen and Company from 1994 to 1997.
Mr. Buchner graduated with an M.B.A. from the Daniels School of Business
at the University of Denver and has a B.A. from Colgate University.

Carter ‘60
After graduation from Colgate University, Lee Carter returned to his
native California and joined the sales division of Xerox Corporation
with a territory assignment of Hawaii. While in Hawaii, he left
his career with Xerox and worked in commercial real estate for 20 years. He
returned to the mainland and worked as a Realtor, selling residential
real estate in Lincoln City, Oregon. Mr. Carter retired in 2003.
While at Colgate, Mr. Carter served as rushing co-chairman for Delta
Kappa Epsilon. Mr. Carter is the father of a daughter and two grandchildren.

Thomas
W. Chalfant ’53
Tom Chalfant graduated from Colgate University in 1953 earning a B.A.
degree. He was a member of DKE. After graduation, Mr. Chalfant
spent two years in the USAF with the rank of lieutenant and received
a National Defense Service Medal. Following military service, he
entered his father’s business, Chalfant Sewing Company, established
in 1940. This business is now owned and managed by Mr. Chalfant’s
son. The firm manufactures dock seals and dock levelers used universally
in the material handling industry.
Mr. Chalfant developed on of the first cabletrays used to support cables
in the electrical industry. He was a founding member of the Cabletray
Division of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association. His
son-in-law owns and manages this company, Chalfant Products Co. Both
companies continue to thrive and prosper as a third-generation business.
Mr. Chalfant is a Mason, Shriner, and member of the Royal Order of Jesters
and is now fully retired. Mr. Chalfant and his wife have traveled worldwide
the last forty years through approximately one hundred and twenty countries. Mr.
Chalfant and his wife Vivian reside in Westlake, Ohio. They have
five children, nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Danielle
Covati ‘00
Danielle Covati took a month after graduation from Colgate to sail
from Grand Bahama up the east coast of the United States to Massachusetts. Soon
after, she began attending graduate school at the Boston Architectural
Center. While working towards her master’s degree, she
worked as an interior designer with Warner & Associates in Boston,
then as a store planner with Staples Corporate Office. While in
Boston, Ms. Covati volunteered with Charles River Alleycats, a pet adoption
agency. In 2005, she left Boston for northern Virginia where she
is currently works as an interior architect with The M Group Architects,
located just outside Washington, DC.
While at Colgate University, Ms. Covati played rugby and worked as a
teaching assistant for Invertebrate Zoology. She worked as a theatre
technician and acted as assistant stage manager, props mistress, and
costume designer for various Colgate productions. Ms.
Covati also spent a summer researching aboard a square-rigger out of
Woods Hole. She held offices of activities chairman and social
chairman for the Colgate chapter of Delta Delta Delta.

John
B. "Ox" Da Grosa Sr., ‘61
John Da Grosa served as a United States Marine Corps officer as both
a platoon leader and company commander. In 1963, he made a Mediterranean
Cruise as part of the 1st Battalion, 6th Marines. He was retired on a
disability in 1966 with the rank of Captain. Following his military
career, he joined Memorex and later EDS with H. Ross Perot. After moving
to Florida he helped found INTEC Systems and later founded the First
National Marketing Group of Florida, a defense industry firm that specialized
in ammunition, explosives and weapon systems until his retirement.
At Colgate University, Mr. Da Grosa, nicknamed “Ox”, was
president of Phi Delta Theta. He has served as class agent for the Campaign
for Colgate. His father, John “OX” Da Grosa, a 1926
Colgate graduate was inducted posthumously into the Colgate Athletics
Hall of Honor for his status as an All-American football player.
Mr. Da Grosa is Master of Harmonia Lodge of the Free & Accepted
Masons. He is the father of five adult children. In 2006,
he married Diane Larraine Matthews. The couple lives in Naples, Florida.

Sean
Fitzmichael Devlin ‘05
Prior to his current studies of law in Boston, Sean taught 7th and 8th
grade English, was the 7th grade dean of students and coached soccer
at St. Ignatius School in Hunts Point, Bronx, NY.
While at Colgate, Sean founded F.A.C.T.: Freedom of Association, Coalition
for Truth. F.A.C.T. organized a broad-based student alliance that
aimed to protect student rights to free assembly that had been diminished
by the New Vision for Residential Education. After collecting over
1,200 student signatures through a petition drive, F.A.C.T. sponsored
a rally of more than 400 students and led a march on the president’s
office to present the petition.
As an undergraduate, Sean also served as the Senior Class Gift Chairman
and Inter-Fraternity Council vice president and scholarship chairman. Sean
worked in Colgate’s Summer Programs Office, Center for Career Services
and DKE’s kitchen as house steward. Sean received the DKE
Alumni Scholarship and the Gordon P. Lovell Memorial Scholarship in addition
to being DKE’s rush chairman. Sean also played rugby and
was a member of the club’s governance board.
Sean is the President of DKE’s Alumni Corporation.

Peter
Frank ‘03
Peter Frank has a distinguished background as a strategic brand marketer
with Fortune 500 companies, recognized for his ability to lead teams
and make things happen. Currently, he is a senior manager with
Dell, Inc. in Austin, Texas, driving consumer marketing strategy focused
on the core marketing touch points of the company. Formerly, he
worked for Mattel, Inc. in El Segundo, California as a Hot Wheels brand
manager for four years and launched several brands and helped grow several
strategic initiatives. Before that he launched a start-up life insurance
brokerage house and learned the value of starting a company from scratch.
Mr. Frank graduated from Colgate University in 2003 with a Bachelor
of Arts in Political Science and a minor in History. He was a brother
at Kappa Delta Rho and served as president of the fraternity in 2002.
He focused his energy on advancing the rights of fraternities at Colgate
and served on the Inter-Fraternity Council and worked extensively developing
alumni relationships and key administration officials. He volunteered
in college-sponsored policy and political debates and worked with Professor
Robert Kraynak to advance the value of intellectual diversity at Colgate. He
served as the vice regional chair of the College Republicans for the
central New York area.
Mr. Frank is married to Katy Frank and actively participates in the
Austin community with his church and donates to a variety of charitable
causes including the USO to support our troops.

Daniel
Glusker ‘93
Dan Glusker currently serves as a director for Fund Derivatives and
Structured Product Sales at BNP Paribas in New York. In this role,
he sells and structures hedge fund-linked solutions for high net worth
individuals, family offices, hedge funds, funds of hedge funds, pensions,
endowments and foundations.
Prior to joining BNP in July 2007, Mr. Glusker was a director of Structured
Fund Products at Natixis Capital Markets in New York, formerly IXIS Capital
Markets and Caisse des Depots et Consignations (CDC). From 2004-2005,
Mr. Glusker was a director and co-head of Fund Structured Products at
Wachovia Securities in New York where he launched the fund-linked structured
products platform for the bank. He began his career in fund-linked products
at Royal Bank of Canada’s RBC Capital Markets where he served in
various roles from 2000-2004 including trading desk counsel and hedge
fund analyst. Prior to joining RBC, Mr. Glusker was an associate at two
New York law firms, Brown & Wood and Stroock & Stroock & Lavan.
Mr. Glusker holds a B.A. in Political Science with an Economics minor
from Colgate University where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega and
vice president of the Intra Fraternity-Sorority Council. He currently
serves as the assistant class editor for the Class of 1993 column of
the Colgate Scene. He received a J.D., magna cum
laude,from New York Law School where he was articles editor of the New
York Law School Law Review.
Mr. Glusker lives in New Rochelle, NY with his wife Bethany (Union ’95)
and two young sons.

C. Hanson ‘86
Bill Hanson serves as president of NAI James E. Hanson, a full-service
commercial real estate company providing real state services to third
parties and acting on behalf of investor clients in the acquisition,
development and marketing of investment properties. During his
professional career, Mr. Hanson has successfully completed more than
200 transactions in excess of 5,000,000 sq. ft. He has a record
of accomplishment in mortgage refinancing, property management, lease
analysis, and property valuation. He began his career with the Company
after graduation in 1986 and was named president in 1993. The Company
Mr. Hanson served as president of the New Jersey chapter of the Society
of Industrial and Office Realtors. He is a member of the Urban
Land Institute, the Economic Development Association of New Jersey, and
the Meadowlands Chamber of Commerce. He has held numerous leadership
positions with the Boy Scouts of America and, since 1998, has been a
member of the New Jersey Council’s Board of Directors. He
also serves on the Board of Directors of Association of Commerce and
Industry, the Board of the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation,
and the Executive Committee of the Industrial and Office Real Estate
Brokers Association. He is a member of ICSC and NAIOP.
At Colgate, Mr. Hanson was president of Phi Delta Theta. He earned a
Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He is married to Stephanie Hanson;
the couple lives in Mahwah, New Jersey.

Peter
O. Hanson ‘55
Peter Hanson has more than 45 years in the commercial real estate industry
and is currently chairman and chief executive officer of NAI James E.
Hanson, a full service commercial real estate company, which was founded
in 1955. He joined the firm in 1959 as a salesman specializing
in industrial property sales and leasing in Northern New Jersey. Since
that time, he has been involved in hundreds of transactions as a broker,
advisory and investor.
From 1955-1959, Captain Hanson served as a pilot in the United States
Air Force.
Mr. Hanson serves on the Board of Directors and Advisory Committee of
NAI Global was chairman in 1985. He is chairman of Net Lease
Capital Advisors, Inc. A member since 1962, Mr. Hanson was international
president of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), a
member of its Executive Committee from 1983-1990, is currently and has
served previously as a member of the Board of Directors. In 1993,
he was honored with the Howell Watson Lifetime Achievement Award. He
was a member of the both the Board of Directors and Executive Committee
of the National Association of Realtors.
He was chairman of Meridian Point Properties Trust VI (AMEX) as well
as a trustee, director, board chairman, Investment Committee and Audit
Committee member of various Meridian Point Properties Trusts traded on
NYSE, AMEX, and NASDAQ and the United Jersey Bank (NYSE).
He has held numerous leadership positions with other industry-related
professional organizations including the Industrial & Office Real
Estate Brokers of the NY Metropolitan Area, the New Jersey Association
of Realtors, and the Central Bergen Board of Realtors.
Civic commitments include board leadership with the Salvation Army,
Bergen County; the Boy Scouts of America, Bergen County; and the Hackensack
University Medical Center.
Mr. Hanson was a member of Phi Delta Theta. His wife, Mildred
C. Hanson, is recently deceased.

Thomas
B. Ireland ’59
Tom Ireland works as an investment securities advisor with Traverse
Bay Investment Company, which he established following a forty-year career
as a stockbroker, general partner and branch manager of a NYSE-member
company. In 1984, he was selected as one of ten national outstanding
brokers.
Mr. Ireland works from his Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan office in the
summer and resides in Ft. Myers, Florida during the winter with his fiancé,
Arby Alward. He is an accomplished sailor racing his yacht in
more than 20 Mackinac races with a third-best finish record.
Lt. Ireland served as an officer in the U.S. Navy for three years as
a navigator technician on an anti-submarine plane. He is previously
married, and is the father of four adult children.
At Colgate, Mr. Ireland served as president of Sigma Chi, played freshman
football, and was a member of the Colgate basketball team. He was
attracted to Colgate as a smaller, highly academic school with an opportunity
to play varsity sports. In 1987, Mr. Ireland recommended an annual
alumni basketball game as a way to draw support for Colgate sports. Established
in 1988, the annual event has proven tangible, positive results for Colgate’s
basketball program.

Shannon
Frigon McClain ‘93
Shannon McClain taught public elementary school for several years in
Fairfax County, Virginia. She became a leader in the teacher/researcher
community there. During that time, she also became a consultant
with the Northern Virginia Writing Project, serving for six years on
the organization’s board of directors and as its conference co-chair. She
continues to offer professional development presentations to teachers.
Ms. McClain earned her MA in the teaching of writing and literature
from George Mason University in 2003. Shannon is the mother of
two young children, a son and daughter, born in 2002 and 2005, respectively,
and she is now primarily occupied with homeschooling them. She
is married to Patrick J. A. McClain ’92, a corporate attorney with
WilmerHale and cum laude graduate of the Georgetown University
Law Center.

Kevin Murphy ‘47
Kevin Murphy’s professional career spans more than fifty-five
years beginning in 1950 as an attorney in New York specializing in litigation
and general corporate matters; then as president and CEO of Purolator
Courier Corporation, the courier and armored car company; president and
CEO of Trailways, Inc, the interstate bus transportation company; founder,
chairman and CEO of CTS Services, Inc., a computer services company;
chairman and president of Jartran, Inc., the nationwide truck and trailer
rental company; sr. vice president and managing director of The Gabelli
Group, an investment and financial services holding company; and chairman
and president of 655 Associates, Inc, a crisis management and corporate
turnaround consulting firm before retiring in 2005 as a private consultant. He
served as a director of health Net Inc. (NYSE:HNT) and with several health
and transportation industries-related companies.
Mr. Murphy attended Colgate University and Dartmouth College in the
United States Navy V-12 program during WWII and served as a Navel Intelligence
reserve officer retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. He returned
to Colgate after WWII, graduating in 1947 and earned his law degree in
1950 from Fordham University School of Law. He was recognized in
1990 in Who’s Who in America. He served on the President’s
Council of St. Mary’s College, Leavenworth, KS and on the Boards
of Directors of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, NY;
the American Management Association in New York; and the Chamber of Commerce
of the United States in Washington, DC.
At Colgate University, Mr. Murphy was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon
and played on the baseball, football and wrestling teams. He lives
with his wife Mary Alice in Topeka, KS.

James
V. "Muzz" Muzzy Jr. ‘67
Jim Muzzy has had two careers since his graduation from Colgate University
in 1967. His Bachelor of Arts in English led him into teaching
and later to school administration. He taught high school English,
history and driver’s education for three years in Canton, Ohio
while pursuing a Master of Education in School Administration at Kent
State University. After graduation, in 1970, he remained as a teaching
fellow for two years while earning 90 hours of post-masters work in Curriculum
and Instruction and School Administration.
From 1972 to 1984, Mr. Muzzy was a principal for an elementary, middle
and high school. He was director of curriculum and instruction,
administrative assistant to the county superintendent, and superintendent
of schools. Over his career he served in five different school districts.
While principal of Oberlin Middle School, the programs he implemented
resulted in the Rand Educational Foundation designating Oberlin Middle
School as one of the top 25 innovative schools in the United States. Then,
due to popular demand, Mr. Muzzy spent his summers training staff in
curricular innovation in Michigan, Missouri and Boston with particular
concentration at the Martin Luther King Middle School in Boston in both
1975 and 1976.
Mr. Muzzy served as an elected member of the Plain Local Board of Education
and to the Oberlin Board of Education. He was also appointed to
serve on the Lorain County Board of Education.
In 1984, Mr. Muzzy left his career in education after 18 years, unhappy
with the constant struggle with the educational bureaucracy stacked against
child-centered schools. From 1985 until he sold the business in 2003, Mr.
Muzzy built his second career as president and C.E.O. of Muzzy Builders
Inc., commercial and residential general contracting. During his tenure, he continued
to be active in civic affairs. From 1990 to 1991, he was appointed
the First Ward Councilperson in Avon, Ohio and from 1992 through 1993,
he was appointed Avon City Safety Director. Currently, he is president
and CEO of Muzzy Properties’ Management L.L.C.
Since becoming disillusioned with Colgate’s administration and
bureaucracy in 2002, Mr. Muzzy, a former member of the President’s
Club, has diverted his financial donations to other areas including local
school districts in Ohio, County Educational Foundation activities, and
to the Fiver Foundation, a Poolville-based summer educational camp
for disadvantaged New York City youth, founded by 1967 classmate Thomas
Tucker.
While at Colgate, Mr. Muzzy was a member and house manager of Tau Kappa
Epsilon. He notes that his “fraternity was founded by Jewish
and Black students…with a membership approximately 75% Jewish
and 25% Christian. This melting pot was a glorious experience for
a conservative Catholic farm boy from Ohio.”

Narag ‘89
Greg Narag has recently been named Business Development Executive for
the Internet Broadcasting Group. An offshoot of one of the five
fastest growing private companies in Austin, Texas, this new and exciting

pioneering the concept of “Private Label Internet Radio.” You

Greg spent several years as a talk show producer, reporter and news
anchor for News Radio 590 KLBJ. Equally adept in the control room,
behind the microphone or calling in breaking news, Greg covered the scene
north of Austin in Williamson County, one of the fastest growing counties
in the United States. In 2005 the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters
Association honored him for his work as a specialty/beat reporter, second
only to a handful of radio veterans from larger cities.
He supplemented his radio work by freelancing as a contributor to The
Austin Business Journal.
Prior to his broadcasting career, Greg spent several years in real estate,
first with PREMISYS Real Estate Services, as part of the first-ever outsourced
property management team for Exxon Company, International’s facilities
in northern New Jersey. After moving to Austin in the late 1990s,
Greg got involved in both residential and commercial real estate sales. His
earliest success came when he represented a University of Texas student
group – The Women’s Cooperative – in negotiating the
purchase of a landmark property downtown.
A proud first-generation American raised in Mountain Lakes, NJ, Greg
often says of his mixed ethnic heritage, “I was diverse before
diversity was cool.” A 1989 Colgate graduate with a degree
in philosophy, he was a brother of Phi Delta Theta, a member of the Jazz
Band and wrote for The Colgate Maroon.
Greg and his wife Carol continue to reside in Austin, but get back to
their roots as often as possible, visiting family around the country.

R. Nojay ‘78
Bill Nojay is an attorney with Hiscock & Barclay LLP in Rochester,
New York, specializing in corporate finance, and general corporate counsel.
Mr. Nojay was appointed by Governor Pataki to serve as chairman of two
New York State government agencies. He has also served as a director
of several not-for-profit organizations, including the International
Business Council of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce, the Monroe County
Sports Development Corporation and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial of Monroe
County. He has worked, traveled to or lived in 34 countries,
most recently as an election observer in Ukraine and Afghanistan, and
he serves as a director of the Foundation for Democracy in Iran. Bill
is also the host of a daily radio talk show on politics and current affairs
carried on stations in Upstate New York.
Mr. Nojay was a member of the Colgate University Washington Study Group
and had a double major in computer science and political science. He
was president of Phi Tau Fraternity, a director of the Fraternity/Sorority
Management Association and a founder of the Skydiving Club. He
was a Watson Fellow in Nepal from 1978 – 1979, after which he earned
a JD and Certificate in International Law from Columbia University School
of Law and an MBA from the Columbia School of Business.
Mr. Nojay volunteers as an ambulance driver and EMT with the Pittsford
Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He lives with his family in Pittsford,
NY.

Amy E.
Palmer ‘95
Upon graduation from Colgate University in 1995, Amy Palmer attended
law school in Minnesota, and went on to practice corporate and commercial
real estate law in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2005, she returned
to her home state of Vermont. She is a partner with the law firm of Jacobs,
McClintock & Scanlon, LPC, where she specializes in business,
contract and health care law. Ms. Palmer is a member of the local and
state bar associations, a volunteer guardian ad litem and works
with the Vermont Volunteer Lawyers Project. She is an adjunct professor
at the Community College of Vermont where she most recently taught a
course entitled “The Constitution” and will teach Business
Law in the Winter 2008 semester.
Ms. Palmer is a member of the Colgate Club
of Southern Vermont and donates her free time to Colgate's Alumni
Admissions Program. She was previously a member of
the Twin Cities and Boston Colgate Clubs, respectively, and volunteered
with Colgate’s Alumni Admissions Program in Minnesota
and in Boston.
While a student at Colgate, Ms. Palmer double majored in
History and Education, and was a participant in the Manchester, U.K.
Study Group. She was a tour guide for the Office of Admissions,
an advisor with the Big Brother Big Sister Program, and a participant
on several club and intramural sports teams. Ms. Palmer is a
member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, and served as its vice president
of finance her junior and senior years.
Ms. Palmer lives in southern Vermont and is engaged to be married to
Douglas Ellis (Williams College) in the spring of 2008.

Person ‘02
A member of the Men’s Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field Team while
at Colgate, Matt Person continued his involvement in the sports industry
after graduation to pursue a career in sports marketing and management.
Beginning with the New Britain Rock Cats (Eastern League, Minnesota Twins),
Matt was a member of the New Britain front office awarded in 2003 by Baseball
America with the Freitas Award for Best Double-A Franchise.
From 2005 through the end of the 2007 baseball season Matt lead the
sales and marketing efforts for the Modesto Nuts (California League,
Colorado Rockies). As Assistant General Manager/Sales & Marketing
in 2007, Matt led the front office to a franchise season attendance record. Throughout
his tenure in Modesto Matt was recognized for his creative and innovative
promotional efforts, including several awards from minorleaguedugout.com.
Matt was heavily involved in the community while in Modesto, serving
as an elected Director on the Board of the Stanislaus County Police Athletic
League, a non-profit organization aimed at providing disadvantaged youth
with after school activities and programs.
Recently, Matt made the jump within the Colorado Rockies farm system
to their Triple-A Pacific Coast League affiliate, the Colorado Springs
Sky Sox, as the Director of Promotions, handling marketing, corporate
partnerships and the teams promotions and events calendar.
A native of Sudbury, MA, Matt Person graduated from Colgate University
in 2002 with a B.A. in Economics.

Edward Ross
Jr. ‘50
After graduating from Colgate in June 1950, Ed Ross was employed by
Shell Oil Company in Albany, N.Y. Because the Korean War had begun, he
enlisted in the Army in February 1951, and was assigned to teach at the
Army Corps of Engineers center in Ft. Belvior, VA. After completing
his tour of duty, Mr. Ross returned to Shell Oil in Albany and continued
a 30-year career that included ever increasing sales, administrative
and financial responsibilities in Syracuse, Boston, Chicago and Shell's
Head Office, Houston. He retired from Shell Oil in January
1981.
Mr. Ross co-founded the Utility Shareholders Association of
Texas to promote
consumer and electric utility interests in the state. And, consistent
with his singing days at Colgate ("13", Glee Club, and
chapel choir), he was a director and officer of three major choral organizations
performing in Houston and its suburbs.
Currently, Mr. Ross is working to organize a U.S. Tennis Association
Super Senior tennis team equivalent to the one he captained to second
place in Texas in 1999.
Mr. Ross and his wife Shirley are parents of four children, all of whom
are graduates of Southern Methodist University (Methodist Deacon, professional
M.E., MA sociologist, and attorney).
At Colgate, Mr. Ross was a member of Phi Kappa Tau.

Charles
H. “Tim” Sanford ‘58
Trustee emeritus,
Colgate University
An entrepreneur in Colorado for more than forty years, Tim Sanford founded
and built a homebuilding company and more than 7,000 homes along Denver’s
Front Range. He was among the pioneers in planned unit developments
that incorporated amenities such as tennis courts, swimming pools and
open space with a product mix of detached single-family homes, private
condominiums, and town homes managed by a homeowners group. In
2001, he sold Sanford Homes to Beazer Homes, a NYSE-traded company.
During his career as a homebuilder, Mr. Sanford was president of the
Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Denver and was a director,
committee chairman and member of the executive committee of the National
Home Builders Association. He served as chairman of the Littleton
Housing Authority, chairman of the Littleton Parks and Recreation Committee
and was a member of the Littleton Planning Commission. In 1981,
the Colorado Association of Housing & Building recognized him as “Industry
Man of the Year.” The Home Builders Association of Metropolitan
Denver awarded him in 1969 and 1972 as “Man of the Year.”
Mr. Sanford is a 1958 graduate of Colgate University, with membership
in Phi Delta Theta. He earned an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate
School of Business Administration in 1960.
Mr. Sanford has remained active in his support of Colgate University. He
was a director of the Alumni Corporation, and then served as a trustee
of Colgate University from 1982 through 1991. Since 1999, he has
served as trustee emeritus. He is a member of the John B. Colgate
Society (for contributors of $1 million or more). He is a benefactor
of the Charles H. Sanford Field House. In 2004, Mr. Sanford founded
Students & Alumni for Colgate, Inc., a grassroots effort dedicated
to improve the educational experience of students at Colgate.
An active community leader, Mr. Sanford served as a director on the
boards of both Colorado National Bank – Tech Center and Colorado
National Bank of Denver. He was a trustee of Swedish Medical Center. An
avid horseman, Mr. Sanford has been a member of Round Up Riders of the
Rockies since 1979.
Tim and his wife, Linda Elliott, split their time between homes in Colorado
and St. Martin. He is the father of two sons and a daughter.

John
Roderick Wilson ‘52
John Wilson has enjoyed three distinct careers as a fighter pilot, a
broadcast executive, and as a philanthropist and community activist dedicated
to education.
Mr. Wilson earned a BA in economics from Colgate University in 1952
and was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon. He has remained active with
the college serving as a board member of the University Board of Trustees
and the Colgate Alumni Corporation. He was chairman and a founding
member of the Mu of DKE Foundation. He is the recipient of the
Maroon Citation for Service to the college as well as the Outstanding
Alumnus Award
Beginning in 1952, Mr. Wilson served in the United States Air Force,
piloting fighter jets. He served in Korea for one year, and later
was responsible for the procurement of more than 40 new F100 aircraft
from the North American factory in Los Angeles. He then flew the
single-engine, single seat fighter jets to Warner Robbins AFB to be winterized,
and then delivered ten of the aircraft across the North Atlantic to destinations
in Europe. He was promoted to flight leader and awarded the Air Medal. His
active duty continued through 1957. He separated from the Air Force
in 1961 with rank of captain.
For the next 27 years, Mr. Wilson worked in the broadcast industry.
His experience included time sales, management of a radio station, then
vice president responsible for nine radio stations that he took from
operating in the red to profitability.
Mr. Wilson has been active in Republican Party politics, working as
a paid volunteer for the Committee to Re-Elect the President (Nixon)
responsible for advancing surrogate speakers and organizing volunteer
committees in the southeast. He served as finance chairman of
the Republican Party of Georgia and was a member of the Republican Senatorial
Inner Circle.
Since 1985, Mr. Wilson has directed his energies into private investing
and philanthropy. He was a former trustee of Piedmont College;
serves as trustee of the Atlanta International School; is a fellow of
the American Council of Trustees and Alumni; a sponsor of The Leadership
Institute; and founded the Robert Burns Cottage Foundation.
He is a member of the Golf Club of Georgia and a member of the St. Moritz
Tobogganing Club. In 2003, as a Cresta Run Competitor, he won
third place in the Seniors Cup.
John R. Wilson is married to Audrey Lundell, his wife of 45 years. They
are parents of two daughters and four grandchildren.
